VISTA trip to Peru - April-May 2025

Wednesday, May 7 - Anne and John did 120 eye examinations and Teté and Manueco gave out 160 eye glasses.
This makes 788 examinations and 1251 pairs of glasses for this work period. Anne was a little disappointed that this was the last day, since the elimination of tomorrow makes two less working days than was expected. Still 788 people did get examinations and free glasses. (Incidently, the man to the right has a knife sharpener. The large wheel goes around by a foot pedal like on a spinning wheel.) |
Tuesday, May 6 -Anne and John did 92 eye examinations and Teté and Manueco gave out 163 eye glasses.
The totals are now up to 678 examinations and 1141 pairs of glasses. |

Monday, May 5 -Anne and John did 147 eye examinations and Teté and Manueco gave out 233 eye glasses.
The totals are now up to 586 examinations and 978 pairs of glasses. |
Sunday, May 4 -Anne and John did 130 eye examinations and Teté and Manueco gave out 209 eye glasses.
The totals are now up to 429 examinations and 745 pairs of glasses. (Since Peru's time is 7 hours after Sweden, The pictures arrive here one day after they were taken.) |

Saturday, May 3 - Anne and John did 84 eye examinations and Teté and Manueco gave out 198 eye glasses.
This looked like a very, very poor area with streets in disrepair and the room we used had no table. We think that the news that we were giving out free glasses wasn't widely known and there weren't so many people that came as yesterday. |

Friday, May 2 - Finally a work day in Trujillo.
Anne and John did 215 eye examinations and Teté and Manueco gave out 338 eye glasses. |

Thursday, May 1 - This was a disappointing day for Anne, when she had expected to do a lot of work and give out many free glasses. The local organizers had missed that this was a holiday and the assistents didn't want to work. Anne went to a local church and as dessert for lunch had a bowl of orange banana slices and mango. |

Wednesday, April 30 - After all night on the bus, they arranged some things for Thursday and then did a little sightseeing.

Tuesday, April 29 - Lunch in Lima with John Godoy and in the evening a long (480 km) bus trip to Trujillo.
WIll sleep in Trujillo a few nights and drive to other places during the day.
