Monday, June 11 - We began today with altitude training: Anne in the forest while I sneaked in a back way onto Western Arizonas University's track for an interval workout.
After that we went to the Lowell Observatory where among other things we heard a detailed story about how an Illinois farm boy, Clyde Tombaugh discovered Pluto (not the dog but the planet) in 1930, using a telescope especially built to find planet "X". Tombaugh was a self-taught astronomer who built his first telescopes with pieces of farm equipment and was hired by Lowell as an assistent. Piece of meteorite
